One of the main obstacles in the development of renewable energy technologies is obtaining venture capital. AKEF helps to remove those obstacles.

The Fund focuses on the financing of large-scale projects with the following technologies:

  • geothermal;
  • solar energy;
  • wind energy;
  • energy saving;
  • energy storage;
  • biomass.

A project must have a competitive return and contribute to the Energy Strategy of Amsterdam 2040.

The fund provides (subordinated) loans, guarantees and/or equity. In most cases, financing is in the form of subordinated loans, the characteristics of which are:

  • a maximum maturity of 15 years;
  • a minimum return of 7%;
  • a minimum of €0.5 million;
  • a maximum of €5 million.
